Obviously though you need to think about where these keys come from – if you do have multiple family members all needing their own keys then this will mean you have to have lots of key cutting done. If someone is then added to your family – perhaps you get serious with a romantic partner or a child comes of age – then you will need to get key cutting for them too. However it is also not good enough to just rely on other family members with their own copies of keys. The reason for this is that they will likely not always be around to help you – if they go on holiday then you will not have anyone to let you in should you lose your key. There should be several spare keys designated as such to stay at home so that you can get in. It's also important though to have more than one spare key for key cutting from should you lose your key. The reason for this is that you will not always be in the same place when you are getting locked out. For instance, if you lose your key and you are locked outside your house then a spare key on your key rack isn't going to do you much good. |
